Freequently Asked Questions

Do I need to give you a deposit?

Absolutely not!. I never ask for advanced payments or deposits of any kind for any reason whatsoever. You only pay after the work is done, never before – not even a dollar.

What is the average cost to remove a load-bearing wall?

Unfortunately, there is no average cost. Let me explain – to remove a load-bearing wall you need to install a structural beam(s) and structural columns.  The size of the beams and columns depends on the size of the opening you wish to create as well as the loads the new beams and columns will be supporting when the wall is removed.

There are times when prior to removing a load-bearing wall on the main floor, new concrete footings and columns need to be poured and installed in the basement – some other times the existing structural beam in the basement also needs to be reinforced prior to doing work on the main floor.

Keep in mind there are a lot of details that need to be taken into account prior to removing a wall in your house. Whatever you do, never hire someone who does not specialize in the safe removal of load-bearing walls.  Contact me today, and deal directly with the expert!

How do I pick the right person for the job?

Selecting the right person for the job is a lot easier than you might imagine.  Here are a few things to consider:

  • Is the contractor asking you for a deposit? If the answer is yes, run the other way.  The last thing you want is to give money to a stranger and hope he shows up to do the work.
  • Is the contractor experienced? ask the contractor to take you in person to the last 10 jobs he did in the last two or three months. If he hesitates or gives you excuses, run the other way. Don’t be impressed by pictures, ask to go see the jobs and talk to past clients in person, not over the phone or email, in person!
